A dwelling-place, obliterated Acrylic sheets, machine screws, steel wool, various motors
A study of sound in relation to the physical principle of motion through the elements of timbre, and tone.
The sculpture is comprised of 6 individual parts: sound source 1, sound source 2, speaker 1, speaker 2, sound destination control, and the motor variable generator. Sound source 1 is in simplified terms, a chipset originally used to filter noise coming from digital electronics and sound source 2 is a chip, mostly used for echo effects in kids toys however; in these instances the chips various connections are attached to screws on the acrylic panel that the motors make connections between using conductivity. The motors on the sound source are controlled by the motor variable generator board. That also controls the motor on the sound destination control board that mingles the output from sound source 1 and 2 and the input to speaker 1 and 2 so you obtain a completely randomized stereo image.
All the motors are controlled through a state seed, that initializes the random number generation, for every cycle of the motor control (as in, every time all three motors have moved 1 time) the seed regenerates from a by summing the output of nothing into a number that then sets the variables of the various motors for the next cycle. Meaning that the probability that the same sound ever will occur on the machine is zero.
